The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has released the agenda for an upcoming workshop focused on age verification and estimation technologies, set to take place on January 28, 2026. This event will be accessible both online and in-person, providing a platform for discussion on how these technologies can assist companies in determining the age of potential website visitors.

FTC Chairman Andrew N. Ferguson will open the workshop, which will also feature insights from Commissioner Mark R. Meador and Bureau of Consumer Protection Director Christopher Mufarrige. The agenda includes four panel discussions that will cover critical topics such as the importance of age verification, various types of age verification tools, navigating regulatory challenges, and strategies for implementing age verification on a large scale.

Additionally, the workshop will address the relationship between age verification technologies and the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) Rule, highlighting the regulatory landscape surrounding these technologies.

This workshop is free and open to the public, with no registration required for attendance. It will be held at the Constitution Center in Washington, D.C., and will also be available via webcast on the FTC's website.
