The Dutch competition authority, ACM, has released findings indicating that consumers can save substantially on gasoline and diesel by selecting the right gas station. The report reveals that the price difference can reach up to 25 eurocents per liter, translating to savings of approximately 12.50 euros for a full tank.

Particularly, unmanned stations without stores, often located away from highways, tend to offer the lowest prices. Consumers who are willing to travel a bit further or opt for these unmanned stations can benefit from significant savings.

Moreover, the monitor indicates that price variations also exist among similar stations within the same city. In about ten percent of cases, consumers can find alternative stations that offer savings of over five euros on a full tank.

ACM's expanded monitor also examines the profit margins of Dutch refineries, which have reportedly increased since the onset of the conflict in Iran. The data suggests that refineries are earning more from various refined products, including diesel and gasoline, compared to pre-conflict levels.

The monitor provides a detailed breakdown of fuel prices at the pump, illustrating how profits are distributed across the supply chain. It shows that oil producers and refineries have seen a larger share of profits following price increases, confirming that higher fuel prices have primarily benefited these entities.

ACM encourages consumers to compare fuel prices along their daily routes or in their local areas, as making informed choices can lead to substantial monthly savings.
