The Bundeskartellamt, Germany's competition authority, has granted clearance for Deutz AG's planned acquisition of FFG Flensburger Fahrzeugbau Gesellschaft mbH. This decision was made during the preliminary review process.

FFG is a defense company specializing in the development, manufacturing, and maintenance of armored tracked and wheeled vehicles. Notably, FFG produces modules for the Leopard 2 battle tank, which can be used for various military operations including recovery, engineering, mine clearance, and bridging.

Deutz AG manufactures high-performance engines, primarily diesel and gas, which are mainly used in vehicles outside regular road traffic, such as in agriculture and construction. Additionally, Deutz engines and generators are utilized in military specialty vehicles and for military power supply.

Andreas Mundt, President of the Bundeskartellamt, stated that the acquisition of FFG by Deutz poses no competitive issues. Although the acquisition strengthens Deutz's defense sector, the activities of both companies do not overlap significantly. Furthermore, FFG has not been a major customer for engines, meaning that no significant buyer is lost for other engine manufacturers.
