The Hellenic Competition Commission (HCC) carried out an unannounced on-site inspection as part of a self-initiated investigation in the transportation services sector on the Perama (Attica) - Paloukia (Salamina) ferry route, regarding possible anti-competitive practices and abuse of dominant position.
The Perama - Paloukia ferry route is the busiest maritime route in Greece, ranking 7th in passenger traffic among all EU ports in 2022, with approximately 7.1 million passengers and 3.7 million vehicles transported that year.
The HCC's actions are based on national competition law (Law 3959/2011) and EU Treaty articles 101 and 102, which prohibit anti-competitive agreements and abuse of dominance by businesses.
