A conference was held in Braga to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the agreement that established the Iberian Electricity Market (MIBEL). Representatives from Spain and Portugal emphasized the importance of deepening regional market integration for the benefit of Iberian consumers.

The conference featured speakers sharing insights gained over two decades and discussing future challenges in global, European, Iberian, and national energy markets, considering energy transition goals and necessary financial instruments.

The event concluded with remarks from the president of ERSE, highlighting the sustainable progress made towards decarbonizing the electricity sector and stressing the essential role of all stakeholders in achieving these goals.

The Council of Regulators of the MIBEL, established by an international agreement between Spain and Portugal, oversees regulation, operation, and supervision of the Iberian Electricity Market, with activities carried out through a Presidents' Committee and a Technical Committee.
