The Czech competition authority, known as the Office for the Protection of Competition, has launched a new reporting tool designed for anonymous and confidential submissions of suspected violations of competition rules. This initiative is part of the authority's efforts to encourage public participation in identifying illegal activities that may undermine fair competition.

Complaints from the public are considered a valuable resource for the Office, as they can help uncover illegal conduct, expedite investigations, and initiate administrative proceedings. Ultimately, these reports can lead to sanctions against companies involved in cartel agreements or abuses of dominant positions.

The reporting tool is accessible via the Office's website, where users can easily submit their reports. Individuals can choose to remain anonymous or provide their contact information for potential follow-up. The Office encourages the submission of contact details to facilitate communication, although anonymity is preserved throughout the process.

To ensure secure communication, users can create a secure inbox by selecting a password and will receive a randomly generated Case ID after submitting their report. This system allows the Office to inform reporters of the outcome of their submissions while maintaining confidentiality.

The Office emphasizes that the reporting tool is intended solely for genuine reports of illegal conduct and warns against submitting false accusations. A video tutorial on how to use the reporting tool is also available on YouTube for those who need assistance.
