On 20 October 2025, the European Commission referred the examination of a full-function joint venture between Greenyard and Eureden to the Autorité de la concurrence. This joint venture will combine their activities in the production and marketing of frozen vegetables and frozen vegetable-based ready meals.

Greenyard is a Belgian group primarily involved in processing and marketing fresh, frozen, and canned vegetables. Eureden, based in Brittany, France, is a cooperative group active in the production, processing, and marketing of various agricultural and food products, including vegetables, meat, eggs, and dairy. The company is well-known in France through its D’Aucy and Paysan Breton brands.

The European Commission determined that the Autorité de la concurrence is best suited to examine this transaction due to its potential impact on the French market and the authority's expertise in the sector. The Autorité will now conduct an investigation and issue a decision following the receipt of a complete notification file.

This referral marks the 45th transaction referred by the European Commission to the Autorité since 2009, highlighting the flexibility of the European merger control regime. The referral mechanism allows the Commission to delegate the review of transactions to national authorities when they may significantly affect competition in a distinct market within a Member State.
