The Danish competition authority, known as Konkurrence- og Forbrugerstyrelsen, has conducted unannounced inspections in the accounting services sector. This action is part of an investigation into possible breaches of competition law.
Stefan Kobbernagel, the head of the authority, emphasized that such inspections are crucial for the authority to substantiate any claims of legal violations. These inspections are only carried out when there is a reasonable suspicion of wrongdoing and after obtaining a court order.
It is important to note that the mere fact that inspections have taken place does not imply that any violations have occurred. The primary goal of these inspections is to collect evidence to confirm or refute the existence of any breaches of competition rules.
After the inspections, the authority has 40 working days to review the collected materials. If the evidence suggests that competition laws may have been violated, the authority will proceed with the case and present it to the Competition Council for further action.
For more information, the authority can provide general insights into the processes involved in cases of competition law violations, but no further details about the ongoing investigation will be disclosed.
