The German competition authority has released its decision regarding Apple's App Tracking Transparency Framework, addressing concerns over differential treatment in user data requests.

The Bundeskartellamt, Germany's competition authority, has published its decision from August 13, 2026, concerning Apple's App Tracking Transparency Framework (ATTF).

The authority raised concerns about how Apple designed different prompts for its own services compared to those of other app providers. This differential treatment was deemed problematic under competition law.

As a result, the Bundeskartellamt has accepted Apple's commitments to change its practices. The authority has declared these commitments binding and has closed the investigation to the extent covered by them.

Following this decision, Apple is required to modify the rules governing how app developers can use user data for personalized advertising on iPhones and iPads.
