The Hellenic Competition Commission has started a full investigation into a joint venture between HELLENIC TRAIN and DAMCO ENERGY for the operation, maintenance, and construction of a railway station in Greece.

The Commission is concerned about the high market share of HELLENIC TRAIN in railway services and maintenance, raising potential anticompetitive issues.

During the investigation, the Commission will assess whether the joint venture complies with competition requirements in the relevant markets.

The companies involved can propose modifications or commitments to address competition concerns and avoid serious doubts about compliance with competition rules.

The Commission is expected to issue a decision on the joint venture within ninety days from the start of the full investigation, with the outcome remaining uncertain at this stage.
