The Polish competition authority has recently conducted an inspection of winter car fluids, specifically checking for the presence of methanol, a highly toxic alcohol. Out of the fifty products tested, six were found to have methanol concentrations exceeding the legal limits.
These findings raise significant safety concerns, as methanol can pose serious health risks to consumers. The permissible amount of methanol in winter fluids and de-icers is strictly regulated to ensure consumer safety.
Clear and transparent car windows are essential for the safety of drivers and passengers. The authority emphasizes the importance of using products that are suitable for the prevailing weather conditions and advises consumers to pay attention to the freezing point of these fluids.
Małgorzata Cieloch, the spokesperson for the Polish competition authority, highlighted the need for vigilance in the market to protect consumers from potentially harmful products.
