The President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) has granted conditional approval for Lafarge Cement to acquire part of Eurobud Chajewscy, subject to the sale of a concrete plant in Pila.

The President of UOKiK has conditionally approved the concentration in the market for the production of ready-mixed concrete. Lafarge Cement is allowed to acquire part of Eurobud Chajewscy, but must sell a concrete plant in Pila to maintain competition in the local market. The acquisition would give Lafarge Cement ownership of two major concrete plants in Pila, potentially leading to a lack of choice for customers and the risk of price increases. The condition can be fulfilled by either selling the concrete plant or relocating it to a new location within 25 km of Eurobud Chajewscy's plant in Pila. The buyer must be independent from Lafarge Cement and ensure the continued operation of the concrete plant. The decision is not final and can be appealed to the Court of Competition and Consumer Protection.
