The Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) has fined the Czech company Rondogo s.r.o. a total of 22 million HUF for violating consumer protection rules through misleading commercial practices. The fine includes a 20 million HUF penalty for the company's deceptive advertising and a 2 million HUF procedural fine for delaying the investigation.

Rondogo operated a website offering various online prize games and discounts, but the GVH found that the company misled consumers in several ways. Notably, it failed to disclose that consumers from other countries were also competing for the advertised prizes and that cash prizes could only be claimed above a threshold of 2900 HUF.

Additionally, the GVH discovered that Rondogo's promotional messages misrepresented the extent of price advantages offered to consumers. The company used fictitious base prices that were not genuinely available, leading to further consumer deception.

During the investigation, it was revealed that Rondogo's discount practices were not conducted with due professional care, causing consumers to incur additional costs when purchasing credits for discounts. The GVH took into account the company's cooperation during the proceedings and its admission of the violations when determining the fine.

As a result of these findings, the GVH has warned businesses that obstructing investigations can lead to significant procedural fines. The authority also advises consumers to be cautious and thoroughly check the terms and conditions of promotions and discounts.

Before the conclusion of the investigation, the Hungarian-language Rondogo website was taken down on November 1, 2025.
