The Italian Competition Authority has launched investigations against companies in the Armani and Dior groups for potential unfair commercial practices. This follows concerns about the use of suppliers with workers facing inadequate wages, excessive working hours, and poor health and safety conditions.
The investigations focus on possible violations of the Consumer Code, including issuing untrue statements about ethics and social responsibility, particularly regarding working conditions and supplier compliance with the law.
Despite emphasizing craftsmanship and quality, the companies are accused of sourcing from workshops where workers face substandard conditions, contrary to the production excellence they promote.
Officials from the Authority, supported by the Italian Financial Police, conducted inspections at the premises of Giorgio Armani S.p.A., G.A. Operations S.p.A., and Christian Dior Italia S.r.l. as part of the investigation.
