The Estonian competition authority, Konkurentsiamet, has published its energy market overview for January 2025, revealing that the average electricity price in Estonia was €92.02/MWh. This price is notably higher than in Latvia (€91.87/MWh) and Lithuania (€89.38/MWh), while Finland had a significantly lower average price of €52.82/MWh.
Forecasts based on derivative instruments indicate that electricity prices are expected to peak in the fourth quarter of 2025, with an anticipated price of €111.15/MWh. Additionally, gas prices are projected to reach their highest point in March 2025, estimated at €50.14/MWh.
The overview also includes data from the Baltic-Finnish gas exchange GET Baltic, where the average traded gas price in January was €48.70/MWh according to the Baltic Gas Spot Index (BGSI). Furthermore, a comparison of electricity and gas packages shows that the most cost-effective option for electricity was the market package, while for gas, the variable price package was the cheapest.
