In 2025, the Autorité de la concurrence took decisive action in antitrust enforcement, issuing 8 key decisions and imposing a total of €379 million in fines. Notable cases included a €150 million fine against Apple for abusing its dominant position in mobile app advertising and a €187.4 million fine for anticompetitive agreements in the road fuel distribution sector in Corsica.
The authority also set a record in merger control, processing 328 transactions valued at over €31 billion, with no prohibitions or Phase 2 investigations. The food retail sector was particularly active, with significant acquisitions involving major players like Auchan, Lidl, and Carrefour.
In addition to enforcement actions, the Autorité issued 17 advisory opinions on various sectors, including veterinary medicines and legal professions, while also focusing on emerging issues such as the impact of artificial intelligence on competition.
