The Italian Competition Authority has initiated an investigation against Poste Italiane for potential breaches of article 8, paragraph 2-quater of Law no. 287/1990. The Authority alleges that Poste Italiane has not made its network and post offices accessible to competitors of its subsidiary, PostePay, in the retail markets for electricity and natural gas. This conduct is said to give PostePay a significant competitive advantage and distort the competitive dynamics in the market. The Authority has also initiated proceedings for potential interim measures to restore a level playing field. The investigation is ongoing, and inspections have been carried out at the premises of the companies involved.
