The Slovak Competition Authority (PMÚ) acts as the coordinator of state aid, providing opinions on aid schemes to ensure they comply with EU rules. Providers of aid must submit proposals for schemes, including any amendments, to PMÚ, which will respond within 30 days.

In July 2026, PMÚ issued opinions on several state aid schemes, including a scheme for supporting advanced digital skills education linked to the Slovak Research and Innovation Strategy for Smart Specialization (SK RIS3) for 2021-2027. This scheme aims to create a flexible and transparent support system for training employees in advanced digital skills.

Another scheme focuses on research and development support, allowing businesses and research organizations to participate in projects that contribute to the goals of financial mechanisms. This scheme is governed by EU Regulation 2023/2831.

Additionally, a scheme for cybersecurity monitoring solutions in small and medium enterprises was established, providing financial support for research and development in line with national science and technology policy.

Lastly, a scheme for investment in bioeconomy aims to support business activities that utilize local agricultural and forestry products, promoting sustainable development and environmental benefits.
