The Comisión Nacional de los Mercados y la Competencia (CNMC) has approved five merger operations in Spain while prohibiting one acquisition. The approved mergers include Swiss Life Holding AG's acquisition of Educare Inversión, Fragadís S.L.'s acquisition of Lider Aliment, Funeraria el Recuerdo's acquisition of Servicios Funerarios del Aljarafe, Neinor Homes' acquisition of Aedas Homes, and GPNL International Holding's acquisition of Urban Sports GmbH.
Swiss Life Holding AG will gain control over Educare Inversión, which manages eight educational centers in Madrid. The CNMC found no competition threats due to the lack of horizontal overlaps. Similarly, Fragadís S.L. will acquire Lider Aliment, with minimal competitive overlap in the markets.
Funeraria el Recuerdo's acquisition of Servicios Funerarios del Aljarafe is a change from joint to exclusive control, posing no competition concerns. Neinor Homes' acquisition of Aedas Homes was also approved, with the CNMC concluding that the combined market share would not significantly hinder competition, despite some overlaps in specific municipalities.
Lastly, GPNL International Holding's acquisition of Urban Sports GmbH was authorized with commitments. In contrast, the CNMC prohibited Curium Pharma Holding's acquisition of the Institut de Radiofarmàcia Aplicada de Barcelona, citing potential competition issues.
