The Polish competition authority, known as UOKiK, recently collaborated with the Moroccan Ministry of Industry and Trade to facilitate a study visit aimed at educating Moroccan experts on Poland's consumer protection system. This visit took place from February 17 to 21, 2025, in Poznań and Warsaw.
The Moroccan delegation included experts from the Department of Consumer Protection, Market Supervision, and Quality, as well as representatives from the Competition Council. Their primary goal was to learn about the Polish legal and institutional frameworks for consumer protection and fair competition.
During the five-day agenda, discussions focused on UOKiK's interventions on behalf of consumers, particularly in the realm of e-commerce practices. The delegation also visited the Trade Inspection and the Permanent Consumer Arbitration Court in Poznań, as well as the office of the Municipal Consumer Ombudsman. In Warsaw, they met with representatives from LexCultura Foundation, a non-governmental organization that conducts educational projects for children and youth on behalf of UOKiK.
Additionally, Moroccan experts were introduced to the complaint handling and management system, including the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) processes and the activities of the European Consumer Centre Poland. The visit concluded with presentations on consumer information and education initiatives, as well as UOKiK's international cooperation efforts in consumer protection.
This study visit was part of the TAIEX technical assistance and information exchange instrument funded by the European Commission, highlighting UOKiK's commitment to sharing expertise and fostering international collaboration in competition and consumer protection.
