The Spanish competition authority, CNMC, has approved a resolution that sets the toll rates for access to electricity transport and distribution networks for the year 2026. This decision reflects an average increase of 0.5% compared to the tolls applied in 2025.

The tolls are calculated by distributing the annual remuneration among the expected demand for the year, following the methodology outlined in Circular 3/2020. The remuneration for transport networks is set to increase by 12.1%, while the remuneration for distribution networks will rise by 2.5% compared to the previous year's resolution.

Additionally, the CNMC has taken into account some deviations in remuneration and income from previous years, postponing the allocation of part of these deviations to mitigate the impact of expected future increases in remuneration on tolls.

For 2026, an increase in the number of consumers (1.2%), power consumption (2.3%), and energy usage (3.6%) is anticipated. This expected rise in demand partially offsets the increase in remuneration, leading to the average toll increase of 0.5%. Domestic consumers will see reductions in their tolls, while other consumers will experience increases due to the higher weight of transport network remuneration in their tolls.
