The Latvian competition authority, known as KP, has received a merger notification from SIA Bono Coffee concerning its acquisition of a decisive influence over SIA Kafijas pasaule.
Bono Coffee is a newly registered company in Latvia, established specifically for the purpose of managing capital shares related to the merger. It has not yet engaged in any economic activities. Its associated companies primarily operate in the forestry and wood product trading sectors, including the acquisition and management of forest properties, logging, and wholesale and export of timber and other wood products.
Kafijas pasaule, also registered in Latvia, provides automated retail services, selling hot and cold beverages, snacks, and other food products through self-service machines across the country. Additionally, it offers coffee machine rentals, maintenance, and sales.
The merger notification indicates that the merging parties do not operate in the same specific market, meaning there will be no overlap in their activities as a result of the merger.
The KP must make a decision on whether to approve, prohibit, or approve the merger with binding conditions within one month of receiving the notification. If a more in-depth investigation is required, the decision period may be extended up to three months from the notification date.
Market participants or other interested parties wishing to provide feedback on the planned merger's impact on competition are invited to contact KP economist Sanda Blau by October 21, 2026, or fill out the provided questionnaire.
