The Italian competition authority (AGCM) and the National Commission for Companies and the Stock Exchange (CONSOB) have formalized their cooperation through a signed protocol. This agreement aims to improve the effectiveness of their actions in areas of mutual interest.
Under this protocol, AGCM and CONSOB will share information and make mutual referrals when violations of relevant regulations are identified during their respective proceedings. This collaboration will also include periodic exchanges of information regarding their general intervention strategies and activities.
Additionally, the two authorities plan to conduct joint inquiries and prepare joint reports for Parliament and the Government on matters of common interest. They will also consult each other during investigations initiated under their respective regulatory frameworks.
A technical committee will be established to coordinate their joint activities, consisting of officials responsible for the relevant areas. This committee will meet whenever necessary to discuss not only the activities of the two institutions but also technical aspects related to the implementation, modification, and integration of the protocol.
The protocol, which is set to last for three years, also includes commitments to organize training activities and collaborate on shared solutions, particularly concerning artificial intelligence and cryptocurrency issues.
