The Polish competition authority conducted a thorough inspection of 626 food establishments, including bars, pubs, and restaurants, and found that 75% of them had various irregularities. The most common issues identified were related to the display of prices, including the absence of price lists and the lack of information regarding portion sizes for food and beverages.
Additionally, the inspections revealed instances of poor service, where portions served were smaller than advertised or different ingredients were used than those listed on the menu. Such discrepancies violate consumer rights, as the service provided must align with what was ordered.
Consumers are reminded that if the service does not meet the agreed terms, they have the right to file a complaint. The spokesperson for the Polish competition authority, Małgorzata Cieloch, emphasized the importance of compliance with consumer protection laws in the hospitality sector.
