In the second quarter of 2025, Dutch consumers collectively consumed 719 million gigabytes of mobile data, marking a 16% increase from the previous quarter. This trend reflects a long-term growth pattern, with mobile data consumption doubling approximately every three years.

Despite a decline in voice calls and text messages over recent quarters, there was a slight uptick in these metrics in the last quarter. KPN and Odido remain the leading telecom operators in the mobile market, while Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs) have seen their market share grow from 15-20% to 20-25%, with an increase in active SIM cards.

The Telecom Monitor also highlights advancements in fiber-optic connections, with 8.6 million connections established and a 2.8% increase in subscribers. Most households (72.8%) now have subscriptions offering download speeds between 100 and 1,000 Mbps, while the share of households with very high-speed subscriptions (over 1 Gbps) has slightly increased to 15.1%. KPN and VodafoneZiggo continue to dominate the broadband market, each holding a market share of 35-40%.

ACM publishes the Telecom Monitor quarterly, providing insights into trends and developments in the telecom sector based on data submitted by major market participants.
