CMA Urges Fuel Retailers to Report Prices to Fuel Finder
The UK competition authority emphasizes the need for road fuel retailers to register and report fuel prices to the Fuel Finder platform, especially amid rising fuel costs due to geopolitical tensions.

The UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has issued an open letter to road fuel retailers, highlighting the critical importance of registering with and reporting fuel prices to the Fuel Finder platform. This initiative is part of an Open Data scheme aimed at enhancing transparency in fuel pricing.
Retailers are required to submit updates to Fuel Finder within 30 minutes of any price change. This requirement is particularly crucial as the CMA has intensified its monitoring of petrol and diesel prices in response to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, which has implications for fuel costs.
Starting from May 1, 2026, the CMA plans to utilize its enforcement powers to prioritize actions against retailers who fail to comply with the Fuel Finder reporting requirements. The authority will take formal action if it receives credible information indicating non-compliance.
