The Estonian competition authority, known as Konkurentsiamet, has launched a survey aimed at gathering feedback from market participants regarding fair trading practices in the agricultural and food sectors. The authority is particularly interested in understanding how businesses perceive cooperation within the supply chain, the challenges they encounter, and areas where they require further clarification or guidance.
Helena Tipka, the head of the fair trading practices service at Konkurentsiamet, emphasized the importance of receiving responses from both businesses that have faced issues and those that have had positive experiences. The goal is to obtain a comprehensive and balanced view of the market situation.
Tipka stated, “The more responses we receive, the better we can plan our future communication, prevention, and oversight activities, and provide support to the market where it is most needed.” The results of the survey will assist the authority in evaluating market functioning, identifying potential risk areas, and planning training sessions and guidelines.
The feedback will also help the authority understand which topics require additional clarification, intervention, or practical guidance. The aim is not only to respond to potential violations but also to prevent issues and resolve practical questions as early as possible.
Konkurentsiamet is open to participating in information days and discussions with businesses and professional associations, organizing training sessions, and answering questions from market participants. The survey will remain open for responses until October 30, 2026.
