The European Commission has initiated a public consultation as part of the preparation for revising Directive (EU) 2019/633 concerning unfair trading practices in business relationships within the agricultural and food supply chain.

This consultation is based on an evaluation of the Directive published on December 1, 2025, and the results will serve as a foundation for assessing the impact and shaping proposals for amendments to the existing legislative framework.

The goal of the consultation is to collect feedback from stakeholders regarding their experiences with the current rules, challenges in the supply chain, and potential options for enhancing the protection of suppliers against unfair trading practices.

Participants invited to contribute include farmers, suppliers, buyers of agricultural and food products, associations, public authorities, small and medium-sized enterprises, the scientific community, non-governmental organizations, and the general public.

All stakeholders, especially those acting as suppliers in the supply chain, are encouraged to participate and contribute to the quality of this process.

The public consultation is open from December 5, 2025, to February 27, 2026.
