The Belgian Competition Authority has given the green light to D'Ieteren's acquisition of Porsche Centre East-Flanders, subject to conditions aimed at addressing potential anti-competitive effects.

The Belgian Competition Authority (BCA) has approved D'Ieteren's proposed acquisition of the Porsche dealership 'Porsche Centre East-Flanders' in Sint-Martens-Latem, which would add a seventh location to D'Ieteren's existing portfolio of Porsche outlets in Belgium.

The BCA conducted a thorough examination of the transaction's impact on local maintenance and repair markets for Porsche vehicles, considering the vertical relationships between D'Ieteren as the official Porsche importer in Belgium and its downstream dealership activities. Concerns were raised about potential market concentration and reduced competitive pressure, leading to higher prices and lower quality.

To address these concerns, D'Ieteren offered commitments including guarantees on approvals of sales and after-sales outlets, implementing a 'Chinese walls' policy for sensitive information, and a non-discrimination obligation towards independent garages. The commitments will be monitored by the BCA for 10 years post-merger.
