On September 17, 2026, the Slovak competition authority (PMÚ) approved the merger involving BDS Sport Group LTD from Limassol, Cyprus, acquiring exclusive control over Marketing Investment Group Slovakia s.r.o. based in Bratislava.

Both companies operate in the retail sale of sports footwear, clothing, and equipment in Slovakia. BDS Sport Group runs the SPORT VISION and BUZZ stores, while Marketing Investment Group Slovakia operates JD SPORTS and SIZEER outlets.

The PMÚ assessed the situation at a national level and focused on five specific locations where both companies have stores. The authority found sufficient relevant competitors operating through physical stores and online shops in these areas.

After evaluating the submitted documents and information, the PMÚ concluded that the merger would not significantly impede effective competition in the relevant market, particularly due to the presence of other competitors and the lack of a dominant position.

The decision became legally binding on October 6, 2026.
