A GVH initiated a competition proceeding against EC Global SVK s.r.o. for allegedly misleading consumers with health and therapeutic claims regarding products advertised on their website, mainly targeting parents of young children.
The company promoted Babybeet brand essential oils and balms with claims such as 'boosts the immune system', 'aids better sleep', 'cures colds', and 'relieves growing pains', which the GVH suspects cannot be substantiated.
Additionally, the Slovakian company used a Facebook profile named 'Pediatric Aromatherapy Expert Association' to endorse their products, creating the false impression of an independent organization recommending the cosmetics.
The GVH's investigation aims to clarify the facts and prove the alleged violations, with a three-month initial period extendable twice for up to two months each.
The GVH pays special attention to businesses and products targeting the elderly, sick, parents of young children, and families in their commercial communications, urging companies to always make truthful and verifiable claims.
