The CNMC has announced the main operators in Spain's fixed and mobile telephony markets for the year 2024. This annual publication identifies the five operators with the largest market shares, which are required to adhere to specific obligations under the RD-Ley 6/2000.
The leading operators in the fixed telephony market include Telefónica, Orange, Vodafone, and Digi, while in the mobile sector, the same companies dominate, with Wewi Mobile (Finetwork) entering as the fifth operator, replacing Aire Networks.
Market shares are calculated based on the number of subscriber lines for both fixed and mobile services, reflecting the actual participation of each operator. The CNMC also considers mergers and acquisitions when assessing market positions.
New regulations stipulate that any entity holding more than 3% of the voting rights in multiple principal operators must notify the CNMC within a month. This aims to prevent anti-competitive practices and ensure fair competition in the market.
