On May 14, 2025, the Belgian Competition Authority (BCA) officially approved the acquisition of Delitraiteur SA/NV by Colruyt Food Retail NV. The acquisition was notified to the BCA on April 25, 2025, and the authority applied a simplified procedure for the review.

Colruyt Food Retail is a significant player in the Belgian retail market, operating various brands that cater to everyday consumer goods, including Colruyt Laagste Prijzen, Okay, and Spar. The company also has a presence in the organic retail sector through its Bio-Planet brand.

Delitraiteur operates neighborhood supermarkets that serve as convenience stores, with a total of 41 locations, primarily in Belgium and one in Luxembourg. The BCA determined that the conditions for the simplified procedure were met and found no objections to the merger.

The BCA plays a crucial role in enforcing competition policy in Belgium, addressing anti-competitive practices and reviewing major mergers. It collaborates with other EU competition authorities as part of the European Competition Network.
