The Polish competition authority (UOKiK), in collaboration with the National Revenue Administration (KAS) and the Trade Inspection, conducted inspections on 34 heat pump models produced outside the European Union. The inspections aimed to ensure compliance with EU requirements and safety standards.
Out of the 34 models inspected, 32 were found to have significant irregularities, primarily related to documentation such as incorrect or missing product information sheets and EU compliance declarations. Each non-compliant model had at least two discrepancies, raising concerns about consumer safety and informed purchasing decisions.
As a result of these inspections, 786 units of the non-compliant heat pumps were detained at the border, highlighting the authorities' commitment to protecting the domestic market from substandard products. The findings indicate a concerning level of non-compliance, prompting plans for further technical investigations in collaboration with the Institute of Environmental Protection.
UOKiK is also actively analyzing market practices in the renewable energy sector, addressing unfair contract terms and consumer pressure tactics, ensuring that consumers have access to necessary information for making informed decisions.
