The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has revealed the agenda for its upcoming workshop titled 'Measuring Injuries and Benefits in the Data-Driven Economy,' set for February 26. This workshop aims to enhance the agency's understanding of consumer injuries and benefits stemming from the collection, use, or disclosure of consumer data.
Key topics will include measuring consumer privacy preferences and the effects of data breaches. The workshop will also reflect on market developments since the FTC's last workshop on this subject in December 2017.
FTC Chairman Andrew N. Ferguson, along with other notable speakers such as Daniel Wood and Christopher Mufarrige, will lead discussions. The event will feature five panels addressing critical issues, including quantifying consumer injuries and benefits, the impact of data breaches, and the costs and benefits of behavioral advertising.
The workshop will be accessible both online and in-person, starting at 9:30 am ET. Interested participants must register in advance for in-person attendance, and a webcast link will be available on the FTC's event page prior to the event.
