Today, the European Commission's Director-General of DG CNECT, Roberto Viola, and Director-General of DG COMP, Olivier Guersent, signed a groundbreaking Cooperation Arrangement with the Japan Fair Trade Commission, represented by Secretary-General Hiroo Iwanari. This agreement is part of the EU-Japan Digital Partnership and aims to enhance collaboration in the implementation of digital market regulations.

The arrangement focuses on sharing best practices and expertise between the two authorities, with the goal of promoting contestability and fairness in digital markets. It will facilitate technical expert dialogues and staff training, allowing both parties to exchange non-confidential information regarding their respective legislations and the challenges they face.

By collaborating with international partners like Japan, the EU aims to strengthen its capabilities in the rapidly evolving digital market landscape. This partnership not only enhances the sharing of knowledge but also solidifies ties with like-minded countries, ensuring a more robust approach to digital market supervision.
