Italian Competition Authority Concludes Investigation into Dior Group with Binding Commitments

20.05.2025 | Italian competition authority

The Italian competition authority has closed its investigation into the Dior Group without finding any wrongdoing, but has accepted binding commitments aimed at improving ethical practices and supplier monitoring.

The Italian Competition Authority, known as the Autorità Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato, has concluded an investigation initiated in July 2024 against Christian Dior Couture S.A., Christian Dior Italia S.r.l., and Manufactures Dior S.r.l. The investigation was launched under the Consumer Code due to concerns over potentially misleading ethical and social responsibility statements, particularly regarding labor conditions and legal compliance among some leather goods suppliers.

While the authority did not find any illegal activities, it accepted and made binding several commitments proposed by the Dior Group. These commitments include a financial support of 2 million euros over five years, aimed at specific initiatives to identify victims of labor exploitation and assist them through protection, training, and socio-labor inclusion programs. This support will also be open to other fashion brands producing in Italy.

Additionally, the commitments entail modifications to the ethical and social responsibility statements of the companies, as well as the implementation of new procedures to enhance the selection and monitoring processes for suppliers. Internal training activities will be conducted for employees involved in communication and marketing regarding consumer protection laws, alongside external training for suppliers and subcontractors on labor law and the ethical principles outlined in the Supplier Code of Conduct adopted by the Dior Group.
