The CNMC is investigating UFD, a subsidiary of the Naturgy Group, for allegedly prioritizing certain commercializers' issues and complaints, potentially distorting competition in the electricity supply market.

The CNMC is probing UFD Distribución Electricidad, S.A., and its parent companies for suspected violations of competition laws by favoring specific commercializers' complaints over others between 2021 and 2022. This could have impacted the electricity supply market in UFD's operating territories.

The investigation was triggered by complaints and confidential information alleging anticompetitive practices by UFD. Following suspicions, the CNMC conducted inspections at two Naturgy Group locations.

The initiation of the investigation does not determine its outcome. A maximum period of 24 months is now allocated for the investigation and resolution process.
