On October 22, the Online Platforms Service of the Luxembourg competition authority provided an overview of the actions taken to implement the Digital Services Act (DSA) during a meeting with members of the BEE SECURE Advisory Council.

Dr. Debora Plein from BEE SECURE presented the current situation and future perspectives regarding the DSA. The discussions included the European legal framework and the national implementation of the DSA in Luxembourg, focusing on the protection of minors and recent developments.

Key speakers included Carla Albanese, the Digital Services Act Officer for Luxembourg, who discussed the European framework and recent changes, and Romy Schaus and Alexandre Gonçalves from the competition authority, who addressed national implementation and a new awareness campaign regarding the DSA.

The DSA aims to ensure a safe and responsible online environment by imposing general rules for all online platforms, with stricter regulations for very large platforms and search engines. These include risk management, external audits, user choice regarding profiling, data sharing with authorities, and compliance codes.

The Luxembourg competition authority expressed gratitude to participants for their constructive exchanges at the end of the meeting.
