The Portuguese competition authority has officially withdrawn its assessment of the Nestlé/Nestea merger following a request from the notifier.

The Portuguese competition authority, known as AdC, has announced the termination of its procedure to evaluate the merger between Nestlé and Nestea. This decision comes after a formal request was submitted by the notifier on May 14, 2025.

The Board of Directors of the AdC exercised its authority under the relevant statutory provisions to conclude the assessment process. The termination of the procedure is in accordance with article 131 of the Code of Administrative Procedure, which governs such administrative processes.

This withdrawal indicates that the merger will not be subject to further scrutiny by the AdC, allowing the companies involved to proceed without the constraints of a competition review.
