The Antimonopoly Office of the Slovak Republic (AMO) has started an administrative proceeding regarding a possible cartel agreement on the labour market. This follows the discovery of a provision in the Code of Ethics of the Slovak association of entrepreneurs that could restrict competition in employee hiring.

Agreements among employers on the labour market, such as mutual non-hiring pacts or wage-fixing agreements, can severely violate competition laws. These agreements may lead to inefficient resource allocation, negatively impact working conditions, impede wage growth, limit labor mobility, and harm consumers by reducing the quantity and quality of goods and services available.

The initiation of the administrative proceeding by AMO does not imply guilt on the part of the involved parties. It signifies the beginning of an investigation process, and the conclusions drawn by AMO are yet to be determined.
