The Czech competition authority, known as Úřad pro ochranu hospodářské soutěže, has granted approval for the merger between Generali Česká pojišťovna a.s. and D.A.S. právní ochrana, a subsidiary of ERGO Versicherung Aktiengesellschaft.

This acquisition allows Generali to exclusively control the legal protection services provided by D.A.S. in the Czech Republic. The authority assessed the transaction through a simplified procedure.

It was found that the activities of the merging companies do not overlap horizontally in the relevant market, nor do they connect vertically. Therefore, the merger is not expected to result in a significant distortion of competition.

The decision is final and has been confirmed by the authority.
