The Svatomartinská conference, organized by the Czech Office for the Protection of Competition, will take place on November 11-12 this year. This annual event gathers leading experts in competition law from both the Czech Republic and abroad. Registration for the conference has already begun.

According to Deputy Chairman Kamil Nejezchleb, the conference aims to inform the public about the authority's activities and provide insights into various substantive and procedural institutes, addressing questions that arise in this context. This initiative is a significant way to enhance the transparency and predictability of competition policy in the Czech Republic.

The conference will be opened by Chairman Petr Mlsna, followed by a panel discussing recent developments in competition law, featuring representatives from the Czech and Slovak competition authorities who will review notable cases from the past year.

The first day will focus on key institutes introduced by the proposed amendment to the competition law, including discussions on the new competition tool, the call-in model for mergers, and the penalization of individuals for cartel agreements.

The morning of the second day will traditionally address unfair trading practices in the agricultural and food sector. Participants will then return to competition law topics in two parallel workshops focusing on local investigations and prohibited agreements such as no-poach agreements.

Chairman Petr Mlsna will conclude the conference with a summary and farewell to the participants.
