In August 2024, the average electricity market prices in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania were significantly higher than in Finland, with various factors affecting the prices, including maintenance work at power plants and transmission capacity constraints between countries.
The future prices of electricity and gas are projected to peak in the first quarter of 2025, based on derivative instruments forecasting €96.03/MWh for electricity and €39.19/MWh for gas.
The review also covers the average gas price traded on the Baltic-Finland gas exchange, GET Baltic, and compares electricity and gas package prices, revealing insights into the most cost-effective packages available in September 2024.
