Record Growth in Mobile Lines in Spain
The Spanish competition authority reports that mobile lines in Spain surpassed 63 million for the first time in December 2025, marking significant growth in the telecommunications sector.

The Comisión Nacional de los Mercados y la Competencia (CNMC) has released its telecommunications statistics for December 2025, highlighting a remarkable increase in mobile lines, which exceeded 63 million for the first time.
In December, the mobile market was dominated by Movistar, Vodafone, and MASORANGE, which together accounted for 86% of the total lines. When including DIGI, this concentration rose to 97.7%. The month also saw 497,164 mobile number portabilities, a 4.5% increase compared to December 2024.
Additionally, mobile broadband reached 56.49 million lines, reflecting a 4.7% growth from the previous year. Exclusive data lines totaled 747,372.
On the fixed broadband front, there was an addition of 17,722 lines, bringing the total to 19.54 million. Fiber technology (FTTH) saw significant growth, reaching 17.8 million lines, while HFC lines decreased by 12,345.
Movistar, Vodafone, and MASORANGE held 81% of the fixed broadband market, which increased to 94.2% when including DIGI. The fixed telephone lines totaled 17.61 million, with a slight decrease of 1,153 lines in December.
