Latvian Competition Authority Encourages Agricultural Suppliers to Evaluate Buyer Relationships

23.01.2025 | Latvian competition authority

The Latvian competition authority is urging participants in the agricultural and food supply chain to take part in an anonymous survey to assess supplier cooperation with buyers and the effectiveness of its initiatives.

The Latvian Competition Authority (KP) has announced an invitation for stakeholders in the agricultural and food supply chain to participate in an annual anonymous survey by February 7. This survey aims to evaluate how suppliers collaborate with buyers and the effectiveness of KP's measures promoting good faith and fair conduct throughout the agricultural and food supply chain.

The survey is part of the enforcement of the Unfair Trading Practices Prohibition Law (NTPAL), which KP oversees. This law is designed to prohibit unfair trading practices within the agricultural and food supply chain and to prevent retailers from abusing their purchasing power against suppliers.

The anonymous survey will allow KP to gather insights on supplier relationships with buyers and the authority itself. The responses will be collected in an aggregated manner, ensuring confidentiality. Participants can expect the survey to take approximately 15 minutes to complete.

For more information, a link to the survey and a summary of the data collected from the 2024 anonymous survey can be found on the KP website.
