On July 1, 2025, Csaba Balázs Rigó, the president of the Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH), participated in the inaugural meeting of the Family Affairs Roundtable, initiated by the Ministry of Culture and Innovation. This initiative seeks to coordinate the activities of member organizations to better protect children and families.

The GVH has been focusing on children and families as vulnerable consumer groups for years. Alongside its regulatory actions, the authority has implemented various educational efforts to assist consumers and has introduced internal measures to support employees raising children, earning the Family-Friendly Workplace recognition in 2025.

During the meeting, Rigó emphasized the importance of protecting families and children, particularly in the digital space, where manipulative and deceptive practices targeting children are prevalent. He noted that in December 2022, the GVH successfully advocated for the inclusion of 'family relationships' as a protected value in the law against unfair commercial practices.

The GVH considers the protection and active support of families as a key objective. In recent years, it has conducted several investigations into practices specifically targeting parents and children, including a case involving products marketed to parents of young children and ongoing influencer-related investigations.

In addition to enforcement actions, the GVH is enhancing consumer awareness through various educational campaigns, such as the 'Think Calmly' series, which highlights dangers in mobile and computer games for children and warns consumers about scams related to the resale of vacation rights. The authority also runs a Digital Awareness Program for school students, providing interactive lessons on digital safety and data protection.

Furthermore, the GVH is committed to reducing the financial burdens on employees who are expecting or raising young children through support measures like school-start assistance and employer contributions to health funds. The authority values work-life balance and contributes by supporting part-time employment and providing child-friendly office environments. These internal initiatives have led to the GVH receiving the Family-Friendly Workplace award again on June 27, 2025.
