The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has published an issues statement as part of its market investigation into the veterinary services sector, setting out initial theories on competition issues and potential remedies.

The statement does not contain any findings or conclusions but guides the Inquiry Group on collecting further evidence to assess competition concerns and explore necessary remedies.

The Group, led by Martin Coleman, plans to gather evidence from various stakeholders including veterinary professionals, businesses, suppliers, regulators, and pet owners through hearings, roundtables, and site visits.

The investigation aims to address competition concerns in the market and determine appropriate solutions, with the final report expected by November 2025.

Interested parties can provide feedback on the issues statement until July 30, 2024, with the Group considering these inputs as part of the ongoing investigation.
