05.05.2025 | French competition authority
Anne Wachsmann Guigon has been officially appointed as the Vice-President of the Autorité de la concurrence by a decree from the President of France. She will assume her role on June 6, 2025, taking over from Irène Luc, who has transitioned to the position of First Advocate General at the French Supreme Court.
Guigon is a distinguished graduate of the University of Strasbourg and the College of Europe in Bruges, where she has also served as an academic assistant. With a specialization in competition law, she has been an Equity Partner at Linklaters since 2001 and has played a significant role in several landmark cases in both French and European competition law.
In addition to her legal practice, Guigon has been actively involved in promoting competition law as a Non-Governmental Advisor for the Autorité de la concurrence within the International Competition Network. She has also been teaching European merger control at the College of Europe since 2017 and participates in various steering committees related to competition policy.
Guigon is also known for her involvement in the arts, having chaired the Centre européen d’actions artistiques contemporaines in Strasbourg since 2020 and the Board of Directors of the Palais de Tokyo since 2024. Due to her current engagements, there will be exclusions regarding the cases she can oversee, as monitored by the High Authority for Transparency in Public Life.
The Autorité de la concurrence has expressed its gratitude to Irène Luc for her contributions during her tenure.
