Rigó Csaba Balázs Receives Batthyány Lajos Award

On March 13, 2026, Rigó Csaba Balázs, the president of the Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH), received the Batthyány Lajos Prize in recognition of his commitment to public service over several decades. The award was presented by Gergely Gulyás, the Minister heading the Prime Minister's Office, during a ceremony at the Ethnographic Museum.
The Batthyány Lajos Prize is awarded annually to individuals who have demonstrated a long-term commitment to serving the public. In his acceptance speech, Rigó emphasized the honor and responsibility of serving the Hungarian nation and its people, expressing gratitude to his family and God for their support throughout his career.
Rigó Csaba Balázs, born on January 1, 1965, in Salgótarján, has an extensive background in public service and academia. He graduated as a program designer mathematician from ELTE and has held various positions, including municipal representative in Zalaegerszeg and member of the Public Procurement Authority's Council. Since April 15, 2020, he has been leading the GVH.
His contributions to public procurement and competition law have been significant, including the development of mobile applications for continuous updates on procurement professionals and an online price monitoring system. Rigó is also involved in various international and national committees related to competition and public procurement.
